Starting this blog was not easy for me. There were so many factors that made me feel as though this would be the hardest thing ever and that no one would read it… Shoot I didn’t even know if I had something to say. As I jotted down my pros and cons for starting this blog, I realized every con was a fear. It hit me like a ton of bricks! I was allowing fear to hold me back, but not just any fear. It is one of the most ultimate, dream killing fears of all, the fear of failure. I didn’t want to start because of the pain of failed relationships, the doubt from failed business ideas and the scary levels of the unknown.
“It is not what you are that is holding you back. It’s what you think you are.” – Anonymous
So how did I fix it?
Fixing this and overcoming my fear was not easy but well worth it! I had to GO AGAINST THE GRAIN! It was a road to self-discovery. One thing that became apparent throughout this journey was that my self esteem was shot! I’m not sure where the confidence in myself went but it was no where to be found, so I had to recreate it.
1) Positive Affirmations
If you’ve ever watched Being Mary Jane then you’re familiar with the sticky notes that she posts on her window in her bedroom. Well, I would do the exact same thing, except with positive affirmations. And let me tell you, I was honestly one of those people that believed positive affirmations didn’t work, boy was I wrong. The more I said it the more I believed it. Positive affirmations played a major role in rebuilding my confidence.
2)Research
I identified my target audience, read other blogs like crazy, created a Content Planner, and built a vision board. I also took the time to learn how to gain followers. One thing for sure, whenever you decide to start something new, you must be confident in it and the best way to do that is through research! Be knowledgeable on the job, in that new business, parenthood (you can’t prepare much lol but somethings you can learn), relationships and friendships! Knowledge helps you to acquire wisdom.
3) Took A Chance
After working on my confidence and researching the ins and outs of blogging it was time to jump! So, here I am. I learned to realize and understand that: Things happen. Ideas fail. People grow apart. Those situations can only make you. Breaking is not an option. Go against the grain! “Well behaved women rarely make history.” Eleanor Roosevelt
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
The i-Nfluence blog isn’t just for the business owner, it’s for the everyday woman that just needs some inspiration. Daily we face so much as mothers, entrepreneurs, employees, wives, homemakers and so much more. We deserve to be celebrated and to know how to celebrate ourselves.
